Overtime – Rules of Beer Pong #20

20.  Overtime

Overtime

Sudden Death

It’s crunch time now so if you have a clutch mode it’s time to turn it on. Overtime occurs after a team successfully completes redemption. Beer pong overtime requires three cups placed into a triangle shape. The team that first scored all of their cups shoot first to begin a sudden death round of beer pong. The team who makes all three cups first wins. There are no reracks in this sudden death round. You can finish the game without the other team getting a chance to shoot if you get balls back on your first attempt and then one of your players sinks the last cup.

Redemption / Rebuttal – Rules of Beer Pong #19

19. Redemption / Rebuttal

Beer Pong Redemption

When you make redemption

This beer pong rule allows for some amazing comebacks! After the last cup is made, the losing team still has a chance to save the game. The losing team must make all of the remaining cups on the table. Each player shoots until they miss. There are no re-racks during redemption. If there are remaining cups after both players have missed, the game is over. If the losing team succeeds in hitting all remaining cups the game goes into overtime.

You can not win the game by getting ring of fire on redemption, but you can win the game if you manage to hit a death cup. Redemption can be stopped if the winning team gets balls back to finish all of the cups in the rack and then makes the one additional cup with their extra turn.

The game isn’t over til the fat lady sings.

Trick Shot – Rules of Beer Pong #18

18. Trick Shot

This next rule adds some style to your games. If the ball bounces back to the thrower’s side then they retrieve it for an extra shot. The ball must not touch the floor for this rule to apply. The player who shot the ball is allowed to do an extra shot, but it must be a trick shot. Many players will do a behind the back shot, but you can get creative. You can also do bounce shots off of the ceiling, walls, or other surfaces.

Once a trick shot bounces off of the table you can play defense and block the shot.

Here’s a cool montage of beer pong trick shots:

Fingering / Blowing – Rules of Beer Pong #17

17. Fingering / Blowing

Beer Pong fingering / blowing

Dudes don’t blow

Guys Finger, Bitches Blow. The fingering and blowing beer pong rule offers an opportunity for defense. If a ball is spinning around the inside of a cup, the defending team may pull it out with a finger. Girls have the option of blowing into the cup to force the ball up and out of the cup. If your finger or the ball touches the beer, the cup still counts and you must drink. It takes skill to finger without getting your finger wet.

Balls Back – Rules of Beer Pong #16

The balls back beer pong rule states that if both members of a team make their shots they get the balls returned to them for 2 more bonus shots. Bonus shots make for big league combos that can shift the momentum of the game.

Balls Back Shake and Bake

If a shooter gets “fire” they continue to shoot until they miss. If the second shooter also makes a cup the team will still get a bonus turn when fire is extinguished. It does not matter if the player on fire shot first or second a bonus turn is still awarded.

A team can be awarded bonus turns multiple times in a row. Balls back also applies when each player makes one of the last two cups. The balls back team will get an additional shot for each member at a single cup. If the single cup is made the defending team will not have a shot a redemption.

Reracks – Rules of Beer Pong #15

15. Reracks

Beer Pong Reracks

For those playing with a standard 10 cup rack, most houses allow two reracks per game. Before each turn, each team has the chance to request a rearranging of the cups to their preferred formation. If you get balls back after making 2 in a row, you may not get a re-rack as it is the middle of your turn. If requested, Last cup may always be pulled back and centered. At beer pong all-stars we also allow for a gentleman’s re-rack which is two cups in a line. In a one-on-one game, each player gets one rerack. There are no reracks in sudden death overtime.

Elbow Rule – Rules of Beer Pong #14

14. Elbow Rule

Elbow Rule

Watch those elbows!

The unspoken rule at most house parties, the elbow rule states that your elbow may not cross the edge of the table while shooting. This rule is especially important if you are using a short table. If a player’s elbow crosses the edge of the table then the shot does not count. This tends to be a heavily disputed rule, because it is hard to tell if the elbow crosses from your perspective at the the other side of the table. Take a good step back from the table and you will never have to worry about this rule. The professional beer pong circuit does not play by the elbow rule as they use official 8ft. long tables.

Eye to Eye – Rules of Beer Pong #13

13. Eye to Eye

Eye to Eye

“Eye to Eye”

If it is the first game of the night, the first team to shoot is decided by “eye to eye.” A player from each team shoots for the cups while keeping eye contact with their opponent throughout their shot. If both players miss or both players make it, the other partners now shoot. This continues in sudden death fashion until only one team makes a shot. Roll the ball back to the winning team and begin the game. You do not remove any cups made before the game starts. After the first game, the team that is running the table shoots first. If the winning team leaves the table, “eye to eye” is done again to see who goes first.

Death Cup – Rules of Beer Pong #12

12. Death Cup

Death Cup Beer Pong Rule

Beware!

Often after a long night of beer pong you may forget to pull / drink a cup that has already been made. The death cup beer pong rule is for when a team forgets to pull a cup that has been scored. You do not have to inform the other team that they have forgotten to remove a cup. If the cup is not pulled and then is made for a second time “death cup” is called and the game is over. Next victim on the table please! At some houses ‘death cup’ refers to sinking a pong ball into the drink a person is holding and drinking from.

Traveling – Rules of Beer Pong #11

11. Traveling Beer Pong Rule

Traveling Beer Pong Rule

What do you mean “travel?”

Want an advantage that only an NBA all-star has? Here’s a rule for you: The traveling beer pong rule states that when the ball is sunk after hitting another cup’s lid then bonus cups are awarded. You can remove all of the cups that your shot touched or just one bonus cup. Like Lebron James and other NBA superstars you can receive a handicap to help you score. While playing with the traveling rule your games will go by much quicker. At beer pong all-stars we do not play traveling so that noobs don’t get unearned cups. We all know you didn’t mean to do that.
